Aberystwyth Welsh Youth to Lourdes Group

Every year, a number of young people between 16 and 25 years of age go to Lourdes with the Welsh Youth To Lourdes movement in order to work voluntarily to help sick and disabled people who are on pilgrimage there with the Welsh National Pilgrimage to Lourdes. The movement operates within the Catholic Church and also welcomes young people who are not catholics.

In July 2007, a group of four volunteers from the parish of Aberystwyth went to Lourdes with young people from a number of different places in Wales to work there for a week. They were the first group from North Ceredigion to do so. In 2008 4 young people went to Lourdes from Aberystwyth, 3 in 2009, and 4 in 2010.

In 2011, seven members of the Aberystwyth WYTL went to Lourdes. They all found the experience both enjoyable and spiritually uplifting, some of their comments on their experiences can be found here.

In 2012 six volunteers went to Lourdes from Aberystwyth, here are their reports: Heddwen, Kevin, Rhianna, Dafydd, Anna, Millie.
